I was all ready to do my workout tonight.
I had woken up, gone for a 2.5 mile walk, gone grocery shopping, meal prepped, and even took my pre-workout, and then it hit.
Not like a little hit either, it was a full on, head pounding, light sensitivity, nausea inducing, stomach upsetting, migraine.
You know the one? Where you feel like your head would be better off no longer attached to your body? Where everyone is asking you why you are making so many trips to the bathroom? Where you feel like if you would just throw up thre pressure on your head would be released? Where you feel like it can’t be normal to be sitting in front of the toilet listening to an audio book, texting your bestie to hopefully avoid having to run to the bathroom to barf when it hits.
Yeah, that’s what my Saturday afternoon felt like. Also, it lasted for HOURS! I felt like my head was going to explode. At the beginning, I even took some Tylenol and Ibuprofen and took a nap hoping that would help things. Unfortunately, I was destined to be in some serious pain for 4 LONG hours.
When I woke up from my nap is when the nausea kicked in so, I ended up going off meal-plan and eating some buttered toast hoping to settle my stomach. We had plans to go to dinner when some friends so I was just hoping to make everything better by then.
Whatever I did seemed to work. I never ended up throwing up (thank goodness), and my head was back to normal by the time dinner came around.
All that to say, you can have the best plans to stick to your meals as you have planned, but sometimes life just hits. It’s not something you can avoid. Life happens. Unfortunately for some it is just better to eat as good as you can while still making sure to take care of yourself. Overall, my two pieces of bread with some low-calorie butter is really not the worst meal I could have eaten and I’m glad that everything was better in time for some good company over a good meal where I was able to enjoy myself after several hours of severe pain.
You are not alone in this!
